Scott McMahon Photography

This is a portfolio site for photographer and educator Scott McMahon. Scott’s work is uniquely analogue in an increasingly digital photography landscape, and I wanted to showcase the mood and tactile sense of his photography, which is largely created using pinhole, darkroom, and historic photographic processes.

Portfolio websites are often very different from the standard five page website needed for a small business owner. The biggest challenge of this website was in organizing a large body of work into digestible sections which could be enjoyed and experienced as viscerally as possible in a digital format. I tried to keep organizational and way-finding text unobtrusive so as to showcase his large photographs to best effect. This website is intended to draw the viewer in and reward slow and thoughtful engagement, as the artists’ photographs do.
